Begin Your Journey as a POSTECHIAN

Visa & Immigration (Non-Korean Nationals Only)

  • All international students must obtain a student visa (D-2) from the Korean embassy or consulate with jurisdiction over their place of residence prior to entry into Korea. Applicants are advised to confirm the required documents directly with the respective embassy or consulate.
  • After arrival, students must complete alien registration within 90 days.
  • The alien registration process may be conducted either through a group application during the Orientation Week or individually. Detailed schedules and procedures will be announced at a later date.

※ The required documents for visa application (Certificate of Admission, Certificate of Business Registration, and scholarship documents, if applicable) will be sent

※ Students who already hold a valid visa that permits study in Korea, or Korean nationals admitted under the overseas Korean admission track, are not subject to this requirement.

Tuition Scholarship Application (International Admissions II Only)

※ Applicable only to Korean national applicants admitted through International Admissions II (Overseas Korean / Non Korean)

※ No separate tuition scholarship application is required for students admitted through International Admissions I (Non Korean).

All admitted students are granted a full tuition waiver starting from their first semester, along with additional on-campus and external scholarship opportunities.

  • Applications for both national and institutional scholarships can be completed by applying for the National Scholarship administered by the Korea Student Aid Foundation (KOSAF).
  • To receive scholarship benefits, admitted students holding Korean nationality must apply for the National Scholarship on the KOSAF website within the designated application period.
  • Applicants are required to submit the application only once, either during the first or second application round.

  • 국가장학금 통합 신청을 하시면 됩니다.
  • 학생 신청 후 부모님 모두 가구원 동의까지 해주셔야 최종 장학금 신청절차가 완료됩니다.
  • 신청서 작성 단계에서 학교정보 입력 시 다음과 같이 선택하시면 됩니다.
    • - 학교구분: 학부
    • - 학적구분: 학부 신입
    • - 학교등록여부 : 학교 미등록 (미등록 선택 → 학교/학과/학번 입력 불필요)
  • 국가장학금 신청을 완료한 신입생은 국가장학금 심사결과와 상관없이 전액 등록금지원 장학금(국가/교내)을 수혜하게 됩니다.

Pathfinder Voucher

The Pathfinder Voucher is a support program that allows students to plan their own learning activities based on their personal academic goals. It provides a voucher that can be used to participate in university-offered educational programs (learning activities) or as a digital learning support fund, helping students explore various career paths and engage in career development activities independently.

Programs Eligible for Voucher Use

  • How to Use

    Participate in university or department-run programs, carry out individually or team-designed activities after approval, or purchase digital devices after getting approval for a digital device usage plan.

  • Voucher Amount

    11,000,000 KRW of Learning Voucher provided to all students enrolled after 2026.

Educational Programs Offered by the University/
Department
  • Programs: Off-Campus, International Exchange Program, Nobel Week, CES, ICM etc.
Educational Programs Designed by Team/

  • Programs: Academic Activities, International Competitions, Entrepreneurial (Start-Ups), etc.
  • Start Period for Usage: Undergraduate students who have completed at least three semesters.
  • Expiration Period: Up to 8 semesters during enrollment (including Double Majors).
  • Single-Use Limit Amount: KRW 3,000,000.
  • How to Use: Approval through Evaluation of the Activity Plan.

*In principle, the use of the voucher for the same educational program is limited to one use.

*The voucher can be used for only one educational program per regular semester or recess period

Digital learning scholarship
  • Eligibility: Newly admitted students to the POSTECH Mueunjae School starting from the 2026 academic year.
  • Eligible Devices: Educational digital devices such as laptops, tablets (including digital pens), and
    desktop PCs. (Mobile phones, gaming devices, etc. are not eligible for purchase)
  • Purchase Period: Within one year after admission (by the end of the 2026 winter break)
Ineligible Activities for Voucher Support
  • Digital service fees; office equipment and supplies; costs related to personal research and patent applications; journal submission fees; departmental activities; club activities; general education course fees; tuition; tuition fees for courses at other universities; participation fees for programs offered by other universities, etc.

※ Educational Programs designed and operated by the university or department will follow the implementation plan.

※ POSTECH Pathfinder Fellowship students are not eligible for vouchers.

Application Procedure

  • STEP 1

    The applicant prepares an Activity Plan
    (using the university’s official form).

  • STEP 2

    After obtaining approval from the academic advisor or the relevant department, submit it to the Student Affairs Team.

    * For startup-related activity plans, approval from the Startup Support Team is required before submission to the Student Affairs Team.

  • STEP 3

    The Student Affairs Team reviews the application and notifies the applicant of the approval result.

  • STEP 4

    The applicant purchases eligible items under the voucher program and submits supporting documents.

  • STEP 5

    After review, the applicant will be notified of the scholarship disbursement.

  • STEP 6

    Within 14 days after the completion of the activity, submit supporting documents and a final report (advisor approval required).

Others

Detailed operational guidelines will be announced at a later date (via POSDIUM student notice board, email, etc.).

Enrollment & Other Fee

Enrollment will be finalized upon submission of the enrollment confirmation form within the designated period via email to
postech-iuadmission@postech.ac.kr.
  • Student Council Fee

    Grants you membership and voting rights within the POSTECH Student Association.

  • Student Health Support Fee

    Provides subsidies for actual medical expenses incurred during your time of enrollment.

Payment instructions will be provided separately after the semester begins.

Photo Submission

Please submit a personal photo to be used for POSTECH’s student record creation.

※ A recent photo is recommended, and only .jpg format is accepted. The image should be between 800 × 800 pixels and 1500 × 1500 pixels, and its file size should not exceed 1,000 KB.

Submission Method: Please submit a personal photo together with the Enrollment Confirmation Form via email to postech-iuadmission@postech.ac.kr.

Submission of Tuberculosis Test Results

Submission of Tuberculosis Test Results for Residential College A tuberculosis test result is required for move-in to the Residential College.

Only tuberculosis test results issued on or after June 1, 2026, will be accepted. Please undergo a chest X ray at a hospital, clinic, or public health center and obtain the required document.

Detailed instructions regarding the submission method and schedule will be provided later.

※ Move-in will not be permitted if the tuberculosis test result is not submitted.

Pre-POSTECHIAN Program

Boost your potential before starting your studies!

Pre-POSTECHIAN Program

POSTECH has been offering a pre-entry preparatory program for incoming students, and it is now extended to incoming international students for the first time.

This program helps students build a foundation in key subjects before beginning their studies at POSTECH.

Courses are provided online through POSTECHx, allowing students to learn at their own pace.

Students may select and complete courses based on their individual needs and schedule.
Experience POSTECH courses in advance through the Pre-POSTECHIAN Program.

Orientation Week

To support the smooth settlement of newly admitted international students, an Orientation Week is organized prior to the start of the semester. During this period, students will receive essential information on academic matters, campus life, immigration procedures, and participate in networking activities. The following is a sample schedule for undergraduate students. The detailed schedule may vary depending on each semester.

Residential College

POSTECH established Residence Hall 21 (RC Hall) in 2008 and introduced the Residential College (RC) system for first- and second-year undergraduate students. It was the first university in Korea to apply the RC system to all freshmen.
Currently, all first-year students are required to live in the RC, while some second-year students choose to continue. Through the RC program, POSTECH supports students’ academic growth and personal development, helping them become well-rounded global leaders in science and engineering.

Mueunjae School of Undergraduate Studies

Mueunjae School of Undergraduate Studies (MSUS) is a single-track academic unit designed to help freshmen explore various majors and adapt seamlessly to university life, embodying the spirit of "Mueunjae (無垠齋)," which signifies that "there are no boundaries in learning." Based on a Residential College (RC) environment and a close-knit support system comprising academic advisors, Student Assistants (SAs), and Residential Assistants (RAs), MSUS provides comprehensive counseling and assistance across academics, career paths, and daily life. Furthermore, through a curriculum that integrates both credit and non-credit programs, we offer diverse learning and extracurricular opportunities exclusive to our elite, small-group educational environment. Curriculum Guidance

Information regarding Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) required, basic required, and basic elective courses available for enrollment after admission is provided below.

  • For incoming freshmen, general required and basic required courses for the first semester of the first year are automatically registered according to the curriculum. Additional courses may be added during the course registration adjustment (add/drop) period.
  • English course eligibility and enrollment are determined based on the assigned English proficiency level.
  • If spare credits are acquired due to course exemptions, additional courses may be taken within the maximum allowable credit limit.
  • Detailed information regarding course registration will be provided during the Freshman Orientation period.
