  • No. POSTECH does not provide individual pre-assessments or confirmations of eligibility prior to the application review. Applicants should review the eligibility requirements in the Admissions Guidelines and submit the required official documents accordingly. Eligibility will be reviewed as part of the application process in accordance with the requirements specified in the Guidelines.

If your academic background or circumstances require additional explanation or context, you may submit an Explanatory Statement together with relevant official or verifiable supporting documents as part of your application. Such materials are intended to provide additional context for the review and do not replace the eligibility requirements or guarantee eligibility or admission.

No pre-approval or individual confirmation of exceptions is provided to the eligibility requirements.

  • Academic documents may be issued in different formats depending on the education system and document-issuing practices of each country.

Applicants should submit the official documents issued by the relevant institution or authority in the form officially used in their educational system, even if the documents differ from the examples or format described in the Admissions Guidelines.

For example, a document may combine proof of completion of secondary education and academic records into a single document, or certain academic records may not be issued as separate official documents.

Applicants should generally submit documents demonstrating completion of their entire high school curriculum (e.g., high school graduation certificate or school leaving certificate), together with academic records covering all years of high school.

If the required documents are issued in a different format or certain academic records are not available as separate official documents, applicants should submit the official documents that are issued and can be properly authenticated (apostilled or Korean Consular-authenticated), together with a brief explanation of the document-issuing system or circumstances and any relevant official notice or supporting documentation, where applicable.

If additional academic records are available only in an unauthenticated form, such as a school report or internal academic record, applicants are encouraged to submit them as well so that their academic progress and achievement can also be considered. However, such materials do not automatically replace the required official documents and will be reviewed in accordance with the Admissions Guidelines.

  • Applicants are required to pay the application fee only once. Before making another payment, please check your payment status and allow sufficient time for the payment to be reflected in the system. In particular, for bank transfer payments, the payment may take some time to be verified and reflected in the system. Please do not make an additional payment while your previous payment is still being processed or verified.

If you have made a duplicate payment by mistake, please contact the Admissions Office immediately with your payment details so that we can review the case. Duplicate payments may not be eligible for a refund. Any refund, if applicable, may be subject to applicable payment or administrative fees and may take some time to process.

  • If you encounter an authentication or payment error when paying by card, please contact your card issuer or bank to check whether the transaction is being declined due to the card’s security or authentication settings.

If the issue persists, please try another card (e.g., a debit or credit card) or consider paying the application fee by bank transfer instead.

Please note that some card authentication settings are controlled by the card issuer and cannot be adjusted through the Study in Korea application system.

  • 28. How should I submit my MOI letter?

    장혜지  /  2026.08.14

Applicants should normally upload the MOI letter through the English proficiency test document section of the online application system. If the applicant’s school requires the MOI letter to be submitted directly to the university in accordance with its school policy, the school may send it to the official Admissions Office email address before the application deadline. In such cases, the email should clearly indicate that the direct submission is based on the school’s policy, and the school is preferably requested to use its official school email address.

To help ensure that the document is properly matched to the application, applicants should not leave the English proficiency test document upload section blank. If the MOI letter will be submitted directly by the school, please upload a brief PDF stating “To be submitted directly by the school by the application deadline.”

  • There is no prescribed format for the Medium of Instruction (MOI) letter. To be considered for an English proficiency test exemption, the MOI letter must be issued by the applicant’s high school and clearly state that the entire high school curriculum was taught in English.

MOI letters issued by institutions for post-secondary education are NOT accepted. The letter should be issued on the school’s official letterhead with an official seal or stamp and include the name, title, and contact information of the issuing official for verification purposes.

The submission of an MOI letter does not automatically qualify an applicant for an exemption. The exemption is determined based on a review of the submitted documents.

We recommend submitting the school’s official School Profile or other supporting documents, particularly if the school uses multiple languages of instruction, as these may provide additional context regarding the curriculum and language of instruction.

  • Please carefully review the [Important Notes] before proceeding with your application on the Study in Korea website. The [Important Notes] provide important information regarding application submission, modification, payment, and other system-related matters.

You can also access the [Important Notes] at any time during or after completing your application by going to My Page > Study Abroad Application Records > My Online Study Abroad Application Information and clicking [Precaution].

  • No. On the Study in Korea online application system, an examination number may be assigned when you submit your online application, before payment of the application fee.

Receiving an examination number does not mean that your application has been completed. Applicants must complete payment of the non-refundable, non-waivable application fee to finalize their online application.

  • No. Submitted hardcopy documents following a preliminary or final admission offer, including originals and notarized hard copies, will not be returned, regardless of the admission or enrollment decision. Applicants should not submit original underlying documents that cannot be replaced or re-issued.

In extremely exceptional circumstances where an underlying official document, such as a graduation certificate or academic transcript, cannot be replaced or re-issued and the relevant authentication authority does not permit any alternative form for Apostille or Korean Consular Authentication,

applicants must contact the Admissions Office BEFORE submitting the document and provide official and verifiable documentation from the relevant authentication authority confirming the circumstances. Documents submitted without prior consultation will NOT be returned.
